Prototyping
Prototyping is the link between engineering and manufacturing.
Stadco has supplied prototypes and hand built cars to leading car makers.
As well as complementing the engineering and manufacturing programs, the facility offers standalone services in all aspects of prototype and low volume manufacture, covering a host of materials and processes.
The prototyping area primarily supports the core business of Body-in-White. From manufacturing tools, producing parts, sub-assembly and full body assembly, Stadco can offer cost effective high quality prototyping.
The facility is equipped with six individual CMM linked build plates.
The prototype facility can boast one of the largest 5 axis mills in the UK.
The Zimmerman FZ40 can cut anything from modelling clay to tool steel up to a volume of 36 cubic meters.
The mill has a superior cutting speed of 20m/min and can cover areas of 6m × 3m × 2.5m.
As well as core steel and aluminium structures, the prototype area has the facility to produce composite and carbon fibre components.
These techniques are used to produce specialist parts for racing as well as one-off vehicles for specialist use.
Prototypes can pass through our production E-coat facility on the same site giving cost effective production level protection.
Prototypes have a dedicated self-contained paint booth that can easily cater for passenger cars and truck cabs.
