High speed press capability wins key OEM contract for Stadco

Stadco, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of body-in-white panels and pressings to the automotive industry has announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply a number of parts for the new MINI.

Stadco, an established key supplier to BMW Group in the UK, has confirmed it has won significant content for the new MINI thanks to its high-speed press facility in Shrewsbury, which has the capability of producing high volumes of quality progression parts. Stadco will press a number of key components, including safety critical parts, such as the reinforcement longitudinals, seat belt reinforcement brackets and gearbox related bracketry and will supply over one million parts per year for the MINI.

Stadco has also won a contract to supply a package of five pressed components for the new model. Again, this work will be carried out at the company’s Shrewsbury site.

Commenting on the contract wins, Andrew Morriss, Stadco Managing Director said: "We are delighted to have picked up this work for the new MINI. It demonstrates our position as a key UK supplier to the BMW Group and underlines our world leading press shop capabilities."

Stadco has a successful track record of supplying high quality pressed components to the BMW Group in the UK. Its Castle Bromwich site pressed the tailgate and rear tonneau for the previous MINI model and secured this work thanks to its 5-metre PG1 press line at its West Midlands site – the only line of its type outside of any OEM in the UK – which has the ability to press large external skin panels both in steel and aluminium, to a high quality standard.
