Tooling engineering

Stadco has a dedicated team of engineers who constantly monitor the development of new/resourced tooling from initial feasibility, concept approval, design, manufacture, tryout and commissioning.

Stadco owns and maintains all tooling standards and press specification standards to ensure that new technology and developments are fully utilised.

All tooling procured & managed by Stadco is bought off in strict phases to ensure that the optimum maturation of the tooling is completed prior to commencement of mass production.

Phases include:

  • Feasibility sign-off
  • Process concept sign-off (A Layout)
  • Design buy-off
  • Toolmaker buy-off
  • Homeline commissioning buy-off

Tooling is designed and manufactured to offer a competitive quotation. Careful consideration is given to the:

  • minimum number of operations
  • maximum yield of material
  • optimum blow rate per minute
  • optimum quality
  • maximum diversification for running in alternative Stadco facilities
  • minimum requirement for maintenance

Up to date technology is utilised prior to the tooling GO to optimise the process and avoid possible concerns such as:

  • Wrinkles
  • Thinning
  • Pleating
  • Splits & strains
  • Spring back
